One of my favourite places to go to on Saturdays is the Eveleigh Organic Market, located just around the corner from the Redfern train station. I like to cycle there and get some exercise out of it (a few kilometres from home), but my problem is that I can only carry so much on a bicycle.
The market is already quite crowded around 11am but if you stick around till noon or later, the stalls often have deals on as they're open from 8am - 1pm. I bought chorizos at $10 for 2, down from $12, just two weeks ago.
As you can see, the produce is all fresh and although some of the organic products veer towards the steep side, there are numerous other products which can be gotten at more reasonable prices. There are also cooked food stalls at one end of the market.
And of course, you would never get to see brussel sprouts in their natural form at any supermarket. Wow that thing was big!
The apples here cost $10 for a big bag, and I could choose from a few varieties. I threw the core of one into my garden, and 3 months later, there was a one foot apple tree there!
